Susan Ahlquist, Licensed Massage Therapist

Being an American with Swedish heritage I have always been interested in the Swedish model of wellness especially Swedish massage. My first anatomy studies were as a dancer studying at the Hartford Ballet, Alvin Ailey and The Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance. Late in my twenties I became a nurse and worked for many years on a surgical stepdown unit, always interested in massage therapy eventually I returned to school and became licensed in massage therapy in 2011 after completing Dr. Jane Garafano's School of Massage Therapy. I am also a mother of two young adults :-)

 I worked for several years for Kaia Yoga Complete Wellness Center in Westport which I really enjoyed, following that I started my own practice in a room at Cheryl Caso's beautiful L'Elegance Salon here in Hamden and have been growing ever since. I enjoy helping people in this holistic way and find it rewarding and significant. Continuing education includes certification in  Lymphatic Massage from Alicia Davidson LMT, Para-medical esthetician and former Yonka-Paris product educator, also courses with Thomas Dimauro (NCBTMB) / Neuromuscular Technique.  (Licensed practical nurse from 1991 - 2019.)                                                                                                                                                                                                              Full circle I reconnected with ballet several years ago as a hobby, this I continue to enjoy very much.  Getting outdoors daily is also important to me, I'm grateful to live in this area with the beauty of the mountains and beautiful state parks so closeby,  Life is good :-)
